Depths of Dsparil was a quick design with a fair bit of time spent on detailing. The goal was 6 hours with an unlimited amount of detail time. So I went with traps and level progression that I felt 'unusual' for Heretic. A theme you can see all around is 'raising a platform to become a lift' which became a sort of running bit for me in this map as the limited time made me feel like 'doing what I know works'. The increased difficulty came at a suggestion from the team as they felt it too easy. I always do find it humorous what people find 'easy' and 'too difficult', I always seem to feel vice versa to the final consensus but alas I think I gave a fair allotment of ammo and beasts to fight. I hope people like the way I interpreted the 'void' (a running theme of this speedmapping project). I thought it'd be cool if it were a sort of 'parallel dimension' akin to Ravens Wolfenstein 2009 'veil' or TeamTNTs classic map 'Wormhole'. I think had I more time I would have greatly expanded on this premise and play with peoples idea of what is symmetrical in the 'void'.
